Handbook

Working with Children Requirements

Our club is strongly committed to keeping children safe. All members working in child-related roles are required to provide a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC), which is verified with the Office of the Children’s Guardian. This includes all Age Managers, their assistants, and Water Safety personnel, who must hold a current WWCC to participate in these roles.

Proficiency Requirements

Surf Life Saving Australia sets these standards that each child needs to attain before being able to participate in water activities.

Surf Life Saving Australia Child Safe Guidelines

Developed to assist all Surf Life Saving Clubs & Members to meet their obligations, specifically relating to children & young people under the SLSA Child Safe Policy.

Report Child Safe Matters

The safety of children and young people depends on our whole community being vigilant and speaking up. All members of Yamba SLSC have a responsibility to report anything they observe or become aware of that may be inappropriate.

To make a report, please contact our club’s Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) at secretary@yambaslsc.org.au or use the online reporting portal by clicking below.

Board Subsidy Application

Subsidies are available for members purchasing new foam, fibreglass or mal boards.

Submit an application with your quote or proof of purchase for board approval.

Yamba SLSC Team Selection Policy

Team selection for carnivals and championship events is conducted in line with our Nipper Team Selection Policy, with teams chosen based on eligibility, attendance, commitment to training, carnival participation and carnival results throughout the season.

Child Safe Awareness Online Course

The safety and wellbeing of every child and young person at our club is our top priority. All members follow Child Protection Laws and the SLSA Child Safe Policy, guided by our Child Safe Code of Conduct.
