Yamba Surf Life Saving Club (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy of our members, volunteers, supporters and website visitors. As a community-based, not-for-profit organisation, we collect and manage personal information in order to deliver surf lifesaving services, education, training and community programs. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, disclose and store personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
We may collect personal information including your name, date of birth, contact details such as email address, phone number and residential address, emergency contact information, membership and participation records, training and qualification details, Working With Children Check information where required, payment and billing information, and medical information relevant to participation where it is provided to us. We may also collect any other information you choose to provide via forms, email, phone or in person. In addition, we may collect non-personal information such as website usage data through cookies and analytics tools.
We collect personal information when you apply for or renew membership, register for Nippers, training courses or events, submit competition entries, make a donation, subscribe to club communications, complete website forms, contact us directly, or interact with us through social media. Some information is collected and stored within Surf Life Saving national systems, including Surf Life Saving Australia’s SLS Hub, and is managed in accordance with Surf Life Saving Australia and Surf Life Saving NSW privacy policies.
We collect personal information for the purpose of managing memberships and registrations, delivering patrol services and training programs, coordinating carnivals and competitions, communicating important club information, processing payments and donations, meeting insurance, child safety and legal obligations, maintaining accurate records of qualifications and awards, and improving our website and member experience. We only collect information that is reasonably necessary to carry out these functions.
For children and youth members participating in our Nippers and junior programs, personal information is collected with the consent of a parent or guardian. We take additional care when handling children’s information and only use it for purposes directly related to club operations, member safety and Surf Life Saving requirements.
Yamba Surf Life Saving Club may take photographs and video footage during patrols, training sessions, carnivals and community events. These images may be used on our website, social media platforms, newsletters, promotional materials, and in grant or sponsorship reporting. Member consent for photography is obtained during the membership registration process. If you wish to withdraw consent or request the removal of a specific image, please contact the club and we will take reasonable steps to address your request.
We may disclose personal information to Surf Life Saving Australia, Surf Life Saving NSW, government or regulatory authorities where required by law, emergency services where necessary, and service providers who assist us with website hosting, IT support or payment processing. We do not sell or rent personal information to third parties.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
