Nipper Sundays
Sunday mornings at Main Beach are all about energy, learning and beach fun. Our Nippers program combines beach and water activities to help kids build confidence, develop surf skills and enjoy being active in a safe, supportive environment. If conditions aren’t suitable, we’ll always relocate to a safer spot.
During the first half of the season, Nippers complete the Surf Ed program developed by Surf Life Saving Australia, giving them age-appropriate lifesaving knowledge and skills that form the foundation of their surf journey.
It’s the perfect mix of education and fun — helping kids grow, make friends and feel right at home on the beach.

Pathways to Patrol
Resuscitation Certificate
At Yamba Nippers, our Under 12 members complete the Resuscitation Certificate each season. Participants must be at least 11 years of age, with training delivered in the second half of the season.
On successful completion, Nippers receive Surf Life Saving accreditation in Resuscitation — an important foundation skill that supports their progression to the Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) and their pathway toward becoming volunteer patrolling lifesavers.
Surf Rescue Certificate - SRC
Participants must be 13 years or older and be working towards becoming active patrolling members. Under 14 Nippers undertake their Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC) training on Sunday mornings during October and November, with assessment completed in early December.
Following successful qualification, they transition onto a senior patrol team for the remainder of the season, stepping into their role as volunteer lifesavers.
